We first met when Charissa joined the church community group that Nick was in. We met shortly in person before COVID hit and we went virtual. The next time we met in person was a small community trip to McCall where we first talked in person. Of course, our conversation was around Nick's hatred for country music. Shortly after the trip, Charissa texted Nick happy birthday. Nick did not have Charissa's number and had no idea who he was texting. We continued our conversations for the next few months.
We continued our texting conversations for several months. Getting to know each other more, planning social events for our community group, and continuing our conversations in person. For Charissa's birthday in October, the group celebrated by going axe throwing. Nick was out of town to visit friends and Charissa had her first realization that she misses this "hunk of a man". The next 2 weeks involved lots of flirting, personal hangouts, and fear in Nick! After lots of talks between Nick and his parents, telling him that she is basically asking you out, and one Friday night of Nick and Charissa talking for hours in his car, Nick knew what needed to be done. A couple of days later, Nick asked Charissa out on a first date!
On October 18th, 2020, Nick and Charissa went to Celebration Park and walked around for hours. We got to know each other at a deeper level and rank our favorite Tarzan songs. After a few dates and increased interest, on October 29th, we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the next couple of months, we spend a lot of time doing many things: watching movies, going on walks, short weekend trips to the mountains. After a Bible study on December 14th, Nick initiated by telling Charissa he loved her and she responded back! After a weekend trip with Charissa, her cousin, and cousin's girlfriend, the wedding talks began! Charissa wanted to get married near the Grand Teton National Park and we sought to make it happen with good weather. An official date was decided of July 23rd.
On February 15th, to celebrate Valentine's Day, Nick wanted to surprise Charissa with "a trip down memory lane". We started by driving by and talking about some key memories with our time together. Our proposal destination was Military Reserve in Boise. Right before our night of long talking in Nick's car, we went on a hike at Military Reserve with our good friend Amanda. Nick had been working with Amanda to plan the whole proposal. As we made our way up, we took a detour towards a gazebo where Amanda had set up some pictures of key memories. At the end, Nick had talked about a bucket list Charissa's parents gave him for Christmas that she created. Charissa had no idea Nick had this. Nick talked about how we have crossed of some of these already, and how he dedicates himself to working through this list with Charissa. One item on Charissa's list was to get married, so Nick mentioned how we can begin another item on this list. He got down on one knee and Charissa said yes!
