We will be hosting our wedding reception at The Book Tower but it's also home to some wonderful bars & restaurants. Le Suprême is a new French restaurant and Hiroki-San has some of the best sushi in the Midwest. Ask the hostest at Hiroki-San what their favorite album is and you might find yourself in a secret bar.
Capitol Park is one of our favorite places to eat and hang out. The park is great for sitting outside on a nice day while enjoying some food with friends. A few of our favorite places are Eatori, Leila, Iggy's Eggies, La Lanterna, Cannelle, Cafe D'Mongos and SPKRBOX. Keep an eye out for Bad Luck Bar in the alley behind The Albert, the apartment building we first met in.
An activated alley behind the Shinola hotel right next to the new Hudson’s Detroit development. Here you will find The Brakeman, Evening Bar, Queens Bar, Mister Dips, Mad Cap Coffee and Olin. At the north end of the alley is Wright & Company, where we had our first date. If you like looking for things we have a love lock on one of the fences in the alley. Good luck.
The center of Detroit, home of the 2024 NFL Draft. This is a nice park (and sometimes a beach) with occasional live entertainment, food trucks and many great places to eat. Some of our favorite spots include Grand Trunk Pub, Parc, Central Kitchen, Besa, Townhouse and Shake Shack.
The Belt is another activated alley with food and retail spots. Here you will find Standby, The Skip, Mootz Pizza and Deluxe Fluxx to name a few. If you love yoga like Cara be sure to check out Citizen Yoga studio. The Gucci store is also right around the corner if you’re looking for a last minute wedding gift.
If you find yourself in Corktown be sure to check out all the new developments happening along Michigan Avenue. The new Godfrey hotel has a great rooftop bar as well as Hamilton’s, a trendy pub on the first floor. Other great spots include Ottava Via, Takoi, Supergeil, Ima, The Sugar House and Batch Brewery.
The District Detroit is a large sports and entertainment development spanning 50 blocks. Home to the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons as well as six theaters for the performing arts. When it comes to live sports and entertainment you will usually find us here. Some hot spots include Grey Ghost, Second Best Bar, Basan and Bar Pigalle.
We don't spend too much time in Greektown but if you're looking to scratch that gambling itch or dine on some fine Greek food this is that place. Old St. Mary’s Church is right accross the street from Greektown casino, but don’t get any ideas.
