Old Mission Peninsula Wine Tasting
There are several excellent local wineries and vineyards worth the beautiful drive up the peninsula for an afternoon or evening tasting. Check out Chateau Grand Traverse, Chateau Chantal, Blackstar Farms Old Mission, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Bonobo Winery, Mari Vineyards, etc.
The Village at Grand Traverse Commons
This unique spot is filled with great local artists, shops, restaurants, and markets and is contained inside the renovated buildings of the 1881 Historic Traverse City State Hospital.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
One of the best spots in Northern Michigan, Sleeping Bear has 65 miles of coastline, an epic dune climb, and offers spectacular views of the big lake and North and South Manitou Islands. It looks tempting but do not climb all the way down to the water at Pierce Stocking if you are not prepared for the 450 foot near-vertical soft-sand ascent back up! As the signs say, "Enjoy the view from here"! :)

Accessible trail head close to downtown Traverse City.
