Our official first date was June 29, 2018, thanks to a little matchmaking by our good friend Jackie! It was one of the hottest days of the summer! Craving Mexican food and cold margaritas, we went to a nice Rick Bayless restaurant called Lena Brava. That night we found out that we have more in common than just our love for Mexican food! Soon we were going to country concerts together, golfing on the weekends, and hanging out with each other's friends and family.

It was a Friday afternoon and we were heading to Springfield the next day to visit my parents. I was in the middle of baking my mom's favorite cookies and doing some last minute packing, when Nick asked to go for a walk with the dog. I told him, "I just let Nugget out. Plus, it's freezing outside and I need to get these cookies in the oven." Nick insisted on walking Nugget. I gave in and before long, Nick was down on one knee in our West Town neighborhood asking me to marry him!!! In case you're wondering what happened next... First- I finished baking the cookies. Then I called my family and painted my nails!
