9 years ago I went to a college party with my cousins Angela Henderson(RIP Cousin) and Kavonna Faye Ellis (Matron of Honor) It was literally the week before I moved to Houston TX for school. I met this "older" guy there and we exchanged numbers. We hung out the next day but never spoke afterwards because he found out I was only 17 (he was like 20) didn't matter because I left the state. **side note** the day I left Arkansas my parents and I were getting gas at Walmart and guess who was our cashier, yes it was Nick and we didn't speak. Three years later I moved back home To AR. and my aunts and cousins kept bragging about this handsome new guy that works for my family's non-profit organization . Guess who it was? Yes it was Nick the “college guy” from 3yrs ago. I won’t say we picked up where we left off but more like started a new chapter of our lives that essentially ended in us falling in love. Nick invited me to the Black Student Association Gala and shortly after he started showing up at my job leaving sticky notes on my car asking me out on dates. (It was everything). He was pretty persistent but let him tell it the sticky notes were simply a resourceful way to get my attention......ok. I called it romantic he called it resourceful but it obviously paid off because here we are preparing to spend a lifetime together! XOXO -Arica
