Our story began in middle school. We would hear about each through mutual friends, but never actually met in person. Fast forward 9 years. We ran into each other at a bar in Campbell: Katy Blooms. Because my sister (Lil’ Fick..my Maid of Honor) was high school friends with Nick’s long time bff (Kevs..Nick’s Best Man), Nick and I reconnected. From there, we developed a close friendship through country concerts, bar hopping, going to the movies, and overlapping our friend groups. This is where the name “Nickett” began. Our friendship lasted for many years, which earned us endless teasing from friends and family about whether or not we would ever define the relationship! On New Year’s Day 2019, Nick put on his “House of Genji” chef hat and made me his famous teppanyaki dinner and asked to make our relationship “official”! The next couple of years were filled with house-boating, cruises, rounds of golf, and barbeques. On Christmas morning, 2020, prior to going our separate ways for family Christmases, we opened our presents together. We then took our favorite pup, Gussy, on a walk to spend a little bit more time together. As we were coming back from the walk, Nick nonchalantly said that he had a “Treasure Hunt” for me when we got back to the condo. He knows exactly how to motivate me…just suggest a challenge and I’m all in! He told me that once we opened the door that I only had 30 seconds to find the first clue in our Christmas tree, that would then lead me to another present. As he hit the timer, I threw open the door and sprinted to the tree where I found the clue. (I found it in less than 10 seconds…I was very proud of myself!) When I opened the clue and read the card (sweet words, but not a clue), I looked up confused. I saw Nick on one knee holding a beautiful ring. Of course, I said YES! We are so excited to continue our lives together by celebrating with all of our family and friends. Let the PARTY begin!
