On May 15th, 2020 Alicia and Nick embarked on their anniversary trip to Massanutten, Virginia. Little did Alicia know, Nick had been planning a proposal since December, and had a ring since June 2019 that was passed down from his Grandmother. He had gone to his home town of High Point, North Carolina to alter the ring, and had already asked her parents for her hand in marriage. The two had booked a Getaway house (tiny home) in Massanutten. Before arriving, Nick and Alicia went on a rigorous hike. Nick carried the ring throughout the hike, hoping for the perfect outlook. Sadly, when they got to the top, there was no outlook - only a cell tower! Sweaty and tired, the couple made their way back down the mountain. After a close encounter with a snake, they got in their car and drove to the Getaway house. Time for the backup plan. While at the house, Nick was envisioning the perfect spot to propose and take a video to capture the moment. While Alicia was showering, Nick set up a couple of test shots and made sure everything would work. After showering and getting ready, Nick sent Alicia outside so he could "set up" her anniversary present. Nervously, he turned on some music, and set up the camera to capture the beautiful moment. Nick called Alicia back in and gave Alicia her present: A wedding planning book. Alicia was confused at first, but quickly realized what was happening as Nick got down on one knee. Nick nervously stumbled through a pre-planned speech that, in the moment, turned into a simple "I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you". Alicia said yes! After kisses and tears, Nick went to his "hidden" camera and stopped the video. Unfortunately, in his nervousness, the video was facing the wrong direction. All they had was the audio. After some laughs, they realized Nick's error made the moment more special. It was a moment just for them - something they would always remember. While there were a few hiccups during the day, it was perfect.
