Nick and Kassie met on Match.com March 1st, 2021. Nick is a traveling wind tower technician and Kassie was living in the middle of no where. Kassie was looking for someone within 5 years of her own age of 25 because she didn't want someone who was so set in their ways that there wasn't room for her and her shenanigans. Education is also important to Kassie because she is a teacher and values learning. Nick wasn't as picky with his search but also wanted someone who was within 5 years of his own age of 31. Just like meeting someone in person, you meet a lot of wrong ones before you meet the right one. Well, all these wrong ones had Kassie's feathers ruffled when Nick found her. He was too old, uneducated with only a high school education, and said the absolute wrong thing at the wrong time. That poor man got the full force of Kassie's sarcasm and sass. Luckily, sarcasm and sass don't always come through in a message and Nick was oblivious to her attack. Within a few moments, all the hostility that she had directed at him turned to humor and an absolutely lovely conversation. She found out that he was only 31 by 10 days and that he actually had a trade school education with 10 years in the Army. So I guess he really is a match. Kassie and Nick bonded over their love of geeky interests, playing games, and going on adventures. On their first date they went bowling and he let her win (he still denies letting her win but there's no way you bowl 2 strikes and then a bunch of gutters the way he did), they then went to the park and literally walked around in circles for hours talking.

Kassie went to visit Nick when she had a long weekend and he was only a few hours away. He did not have a long weekend so she got bored while he was at work. She knew he had the ring, so naturally she started to look for it. Well, Nick is 6'5" and Kassie is 5'6" so she figured that he would hide it somewhere she couldn't see, you know... somewhere tall. Kassie looked high and low for the ring, but mostly high. After what seemed like hours of looking around the very small space she gave up, it had honestly not even been 10 minutes. She didn't really want to find it other than for the sake of those shenanigans and she figured it might be in his truck or something. That very night they were watching a movie (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs) on the couch and he leans in close and whispers "Kassie, will you marry me?" of course she said yes! This wasn't how he intended to propose but the moment just felt right. "Where was the elusive ring?", you might ask? Well it was in the console of the very couch that Kassie was resting her arm on. Inches from where she sat all day long. She looked high and low, but apparently not in the middle!

This summer Kassie's family has not 1 but 2 other weddings. I know some of you are wondering why this summer, why not wait since there are other weddings already going on. Kassie started teaching in Hart in the fall and she teaches students from 3rd through 12th grade. After a year of calling her "Ms. Lamm", it is going to be hard for them to transition to "Mrs. Sliger". This transition would be even harder if she taught as "Ms. Lamm" for even longer. With Kassie being a teacher, the summer is truly the only time that she can get married and Kassie did not want to wait another year and a half to marry Nick. Kami, one of Kassie's three gorgeous sisters, is studying to become an optometrist and just finished her first year of optometry school. This summer is the only summer that Kami will not be studying. These are the reasons that they decided to have a wedding this summer instead of waiting another year. About the wedding itself! Kassie and Nick are all about doing what they enjoy, even if they like different things. As such, the reception will have options so that guests can make choices about what they prefer! Kassie and Nick will be heading to Orlando, Florida mid September for their honeymoon! They are both huge geeks so choosing to go to Universal Studios, home of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Jurassic Park, and Disney's Hollywood Studios, home of Star Wars, was a no brainer.

They lived happily ever after. They never fought or even argued. Their lives were beautiful and perfect in every way. Ok, I can not see into the future and do not know what challenges are ahead. I do know that Kassie and Nick love each other and have what it takes to weather any storm that comes their way. They know that life is not always happiness and rainbows but they have learned how to communicate with each other to overcome obstacles. They know that they are not fighting to win the fight against each other but to come to an understanding and fix the problem that they face.
