COVID-19 UPDATES

Dear Family & Friends, We hope this message finds you safe, socially distanced, and sane. Happy 2021! Last year was such a difficult year for our country and world for too many reasons to name, and we are looking forward to this new year ahead with gratitude, hope, and curiosity. Despite the losses we faced in 2020, we're taking things day by day and are thankful to be healthy and that the ones we love remain safe, too. Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding the pandemic we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding in New York City indefinitely. Cancelling the wedding has allowed us to make space for new and exciting plans that otherwise would not have been possible. We are very excited to tell you our new plans to privately elope in the Catskills in Upstate NY. Words can't even describe to you our feeling of relief after making this decision and also the joy we're rediscovering in imagining a new way to celebrate our love! We have booked a stay at Hasbrouck House and will elope in the mountains on the morning of May 17th (fun fact: the same date as the International Day against Homophobia). The simple nuptials will include Josh, me, a photographer, and the photographer's wife who conveniently officiates weddings. We'll have a mini photo-shoot and treat ourselves to a private chef-prepared picnic in the afternoon! Stay tuned for photos 😄. Again, we truly want to thank all of you for your support and words of encouragement over the last year as they have meant the world to us. We love you all and can’t wait until we can all get together again! Stay safe! All the best, Nick & Josh

Breaking the Ice

Finding love in course THE-100

Nick and Josh met during their first semester at Baldwin Wallace University during Intro to Theatre class. They were playing an icebreaker game for the first session and a blue ball was passed around. Whoever had it introduced themselves and passed it on to another person in the circle. When Nick had the ball, he said his name, then made googly eyes at Josh and passed the ball to him. They started dating on September 18, 2012.

Life in the City

Buckeye State to the City That Never Sleeps

Nick moved to NYC in 2015 and Josh joined him the following year. Both born and raised in Ohio, living together in the big city has been an adventure all of its own—from finding space for all their stuff in one tiny bedroom (under bed storage saves lives), to figuring out their subway commute alongside pole-dancing street performers. They've made a small family together with their ginger kitty Calcifer, who they love even when he breaks things, like the brand new lamp they bought last summer. Nick and Josh have learned to love the city and are happy to claim a little nook of it for their own.

Making it Official

Will you hold my Starbucks?

On March 9, 2019, Josh took Nick to their favorite restaurant in the city, Jacob's Pickles. Afterwards, they walked through the Upper West Side to Central Park, stopping for Starbucks on the way. In the park, they went to Bethesda Fountain, another one of their favorite spots. As they walked around the fountain, Josh bent down to tie his shoe and asked Nick to hold his coffee. While on one knee, Josh told Nick something was wrong with his Starbucks and that he should look inside. Confused, Nick opened the cup and discovered a ring. "You're doing this NOW?" he said, choking back tears, and Josh asked the big question. He said yes! ♡
