Over Memorial Day weekend 2025, we headed up to Door County, one of our favorite places and a tradition we’ve kept over the years. In the past, we’ve typically camped at Peninsula State Park, but after getting caught in the rain during our 2024 trip, we opted for the sweetest little bed and breakfast: Roots Inn & Kitchen. The day Nick proposed couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was shining, we grabbed coffee, and went for a walk. Nick kept teasing me about proposing in random spots, which of course kept me guessing. We ended up at Twelve Eleven (where our welcome drinks will be!) had some wine, and played a game of cribbage. After that, I suggested we go to Anderson Dock to take our annual photo, something we’ve done every year. We brought our tripod, as usual, not knowing if anyone would be around to snap a pic. We took a few photos, and then Nick went back to the camera to make sure we were in frame. What I didn’t know was that Nick secretly switched it to video. He came back to pose for another “photo”… and then got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. We giggled, laughed, and giggled some more. Nick even got back down on one knee again before I finally said yes! It was the most joy-filled surprise in a place that already held so many memories. Now it’s even more special, and we can’t wait to watch our family grow with a new photo at Anderson Dock each year. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with more wine, pizza, and, you guessed it, more wine. Definitely celebrated a little too hard, but soaked in every second of the start of forever.
