8 Years Was Worth The Wait!

Mike claims that he enjoys me telling our story, so here it goes! Our paths first crossed in 2012 on a young adult retreat. He did catch my eye that weekend. Turns out, I caught his eye too. We both were new believers, and he tells me, then, he never knew Christian women could be so gorgeous, haha. Mike didn't ask me, but got my number from a mutual friend and started texting me. He was being too friendly, and I told my sister-friend, Penelope, who told me she's sure he has a girlfriend. Being a serious zero tolerance for no-nonsense kind of person, I asked him about his girlfriend. He was honest about dating someone and not having an agenda. I appreciated his honesty but didn't trust that texting was a good idea, so we stopped. It wasn't too long after that we both were interviewing to join a Christian fraternity & sorority. Honestly, when I learned he was joining, I was more inclined to. We grew a genuine friendship in the initiation process, one that developed feelings. But this man was still in a relationship! Mike has a really good friendship with my Pastor and would visit my church, so I would see him from time to time. We enjoyed our friendship, a lot, and if you know Mike it's really difficult not to enjoy him. He's was fun and handsome, plus his love for Jesus was so evident. There were missed signals for almost three years straight. A few years back he reached out to me again. I was interested in dating him but he wasn't sure, which made me unsure about his intentions so I kept my guards up. We found ourselves at a pivotal moment and discovered, again, that we still weren't ready for a relationship. For the next few years, the interaction could be described as awkward and distant. He would say it felt like the loss of a good friendship. But, that ended in August of 2019. It was evident that the Lord prepared both of our hearts for one another. I was much more willing this time and he was more intentional. The rest is history. We gettin' married, ya'll!
