Sam and I met on Bumble early 2019 and began talking for a few weeks before deciding to meet up for our first date. We planned to do dinner and drinks at The Garage in okc and like typical Sam, last minute he told me he was bringing a friend and asked that I bring one. My friend, Allyson, thankfully agreed to the outing an hour before it was time to be there. She and I got to The Garage right on time since we lived down the street at the time and Sam called me a few minutes later asking where I was. He had told his uber driver to take him to Bricktown Brewery instead so had to reroute. When they finally arrived, Allyson and I had already downed our first beer to shake off some nerves. To my pleasant surprise Sam was just as handsome in person and we hit it off pretty quickly. We began talking about our lives and where we grew up when we quickly realized that we had gone to the same high school and had many mutual friends. We talked and flirted for a few hours and finally went our separate ways (not even a kiss goodbye). Panicked that I did something wrong on the date, I waited for two days hoping he would reach out and then finally I gave in and texted him something very forward asking why he was ghosting me. To which he responded that he was told he was supposed to wait three days to not seem eager. We laughed it off and set up an actual first date just the two of us the next weekend. We decided to start off at Bar Arbolada for a few cocktails and deep conversation. Slowly we made our way to Ponyboy. This is where Sam won me over with his awful dance moves and quirkiness. We danced our butts off and finally rested for a bit when Sam leaned over and said "I've been wanting to do this for a while..." and kissed me for the first time. It was both romantic and hilarious which is exactly who he is. We have been inseparable ever since <3
For Fourth of July weekend Sam, Remi and I booked a trip to Seattle, WA to visit Sam's Aunt Deb and his cousins, Nick and Bodhi. We relaxed pool side the first day and planned our touristy adventures for day two which had to include Pike Place Market. We took two cars to the Market area and decided to meet up near the ferris wheel. Once we found the rest of the group, Sam suggested some brunch (knowing I never say no to brunch). We sat and chatted at this random spot on the pier called "The Alaskan Sourdough Bakery" while waiting for our food. Deb came up to us and asked what the plan was and said we just HAD to do the ferris wheel because the views were beautiful. I of course said yes and Sam surprisingly agreed. Deb talked Sam into getting his tickets online and told us they had already gone so they'd hang out at the bottom. When we got up to the line, the ferris wheel attendant asked for our tickets and quickly escorted us to the front of the line because we were "VIP." Included with this status was a photo, champagne, and an air conditioned, private glass bottom gondola. At this point I became pretty aware of what was happening as the VIP status was very overt. Once situated in our gondola, Sam pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. Obviously, I said yes and we relaxed the rest of the ride and enjoyed the gorgeous views of Elliot Bay and the Seattle Skyline.
