Their story began in 1970, Cortez and Denise attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Cortez worked in the library full time and attended school in the evenings. Denise, a full-time pharmacy student, was studious, quiet and could often be found in the library. Cortez was thoughtful, kind and just fun to be around. Slowly their library friendship evolved to countless hours together and an unconditional love for each other. In May of 1973 Denise went home to Chicago for her summer break and Cortez was missing his babe. He popped the big question and 45 days later they were married. Here we are 50 years later celebrating the union on June 30, 1973. Cortez and Denise are excited to celebrate this milestone with family and friends from near and far.
