We're Getting Married!

We grew up in the same local community, we attended all of the same schools, and had many of the same teachers. We ran in the same circles for years, me cheering on the side lines of his high school football games and many other connections. It wasn't more than a friendship until we were partners in a good old fashion beer pong game... Draining one cup after the next, I think he knew he was in love. After months of keeping it low key and conversations with friends and family saying "it's just a thing", I took the leap of faith and asked him to be my boyfriend. From then on, we have grown into a strong couple through all of our dating trials and tribulations including but not limited to long distance and busy football seasons.

Summer was coming to an end and he was set to head back to camp to take over the world, one NFL game at a time. I was anxiously waiting for him to ask me the big question and I thought all hope was lost once his schedule picked back up. The night before he left, he told me he had a surprise dinner planned and to "dress nice but it's casual..." What a helpful statement... He drove us down the 101 and parked at Seaside beach. Once parked, he let me know dinner would be at "Scottie's Steakhouse." He made us a full spread for dinner: Cheese and meat board for the appetizer, then Filet Mignon, New York Strip, sweet potato fries, and broccoli for our main course and side dishes. After this awkwardly silent but delicious dinner, he told me we were going to take a walk down the beach in a few minutes, but was focused on an exact time. As we walked around the edge of the bluff, I saw red rose petals and champagne on a white blanket in the distance. I admitted to him I didn't want to believe that it was for me but he said that it was... *cue the water works*. I was so overwhelmed with love and happiness. On the blanket was a card addressed to "Nicholette Q?" He asked me the question I have been waiting for since I was 18 years old.
