Silver Beach is located in St. Joseph, at the mouth of the St. Joseph River. Silver Beach County Park features a clean, wide beach on Lake Michigan and public access to the South Pier. Of the Park’s 2,450 feet of Lake Michigan frontage, approx. 1,600 feet are dedicated for a public swimming area in the summer months.
An Amtrak depot turned pizzeria that offers tall, frosty glasses of beer and a unique view of passing trains. Oh, and it was voted The Best Pizza in Southwest Michigan! This place does get busy so we recommend planning ahead. As per their website: "On busy days get your name on the waitlist and go enjoy the beach area, go over to the carousel, stroll the downtown, take a walk down the pier. We will page you when your table is ready."
No trip to St. Joseph is complete without riding the Silver Beach Carousel, a classic restored merry-go-round with painted animals and music from a vintage band organ. It's just a short walk from the shores of Lake Michigan.
Built into dunes, Tiscornia Beach Park is located on 16 acres along the shoreline of Lake Michigan at the northwest corner of St. Joseph. Walk to and tour St. Joseph and Benton Harbor's iconic North Pier lighthouses, take a seat in the sand to watch sailboats and lake freighters, and then finish your day off with a Lake Michigan sunset.
