Things To Do

The Lake Michigan shoreline has been a summer destination for Midwesterners since the late 1800's. People from Chicago and Detroit come for the cool lake breezes, sandy beaches, and serene atmosphere. We're looking forward to sharing this gem of the Southwest Michigan shoreline with you. Here are some spots we recommend checking out during your stay. Please note, our hotel blocks (Courtyard & Hampton) are on the outskirts of town. Downtown St. Joseph is a 10 minute drive - you may consider renting a car or booking a cab via Lakefront Transportation to head to Downtown St. Joseph.

Silver Beach Pizza

Silver Beach Pizza

410 Vine Street, St. Joseph, MI 49085

An Amtrak depot turned pizzeria that offers tall, frosty glasses of beer and a unique view of passing trains. Oh, and it was voted The Best Pizza in Southwest Michigan! This place does get busy so we recommend planning ahead. As per their website: "On busy days get your name on the waitlist and go enjoy the beach area, go over to the carousel, stroll the downtown, take a walk down the pier. We will page you when your table is ready."

Silver Beach Carousel

Silver Beach Carousel

333 Broad Street, St. Joseph, MI 49085

No trip to St. Joseph is complete without riding the Silver Beach Carousel, a classic restored merry-go-round with painted animals and music from a vintage band organ. It's just a short walk from the shores of Lake Michigan.

Baroda Founders Wine Cellar has a wide selection of wines ranging from classic varietals (their Lake Michigan series) to fruit-flavor enhanced (Baroda Antique series), as well as delectable dessert wines. With over 40 years of experience, their winemaster uses local grapes to produce high-quality, award-winning wines. Stop in for a tasting.
