Sloane had just moved to a new city to pursue her Masters in Art History and decided it was time to make new connections. Nicholas was just beginning a new adventure riding his bike down the west coast and by a stroke of fate, they both decided to swipe right. After a few text exchanges, they decided to meet up for their first date. The first stop was drinks at The Barn Light. Nicholas impressed Sloane with his adventurous spirit as he recounted crazy nights on the Pacific Crest Trail and the freedom of the open road. Next stop Poppi's. Nicholas and Sloane continued to get to know one another over some delicious food, but they didn't want the night to end there! Next stop Jameson's. At this point, Sloane wasn't sure if Nicholas was into her. Maybe he just wanted to be friends? But as the night continued it became clear they shared a real connection. They ended the night at Voodoo Doughnuts with a sweet treat, a kiss goodnight, and the promise of a second date.

Sloane was given an incredible opportunity to teach in Denmark for a month. While Nicholas and Sloane talked almost every night, the distance and the time difference made them realize how much they truly love each other and would never want to be without one another. Nicholas found the perfect ring and decided he was going to surprise Sloane when she got back. Nicholas picked Sloane up from LAX and began the journey home to Santa Barbara. Nicholas knew he wanted to wait for the perfect moment with the ocean as the backdrop. As they were driving up the 101, Nicholas needed an excuse to pull off and in true Nicholas fashion, he said he needed to go pee. Sloane just really wanted to get home after an extremely long flight, but Nicholas insisted. After a few minutes of killing time outside of the truck, Nicholas went to the passenger side and asked Sloane to get out to admire the view. When she went to hug him, his heart was racing. She asked him if everything was okay; that's when he told her how much he loves her and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes!
