Skyler and Nick first met in sixth grade, when Nick transferred to Mockingbird Elementary. Even then, they shared a few things in common, they were both naturally athletic, a little competitive, and somehow ended up as the only two students in their class to receive the Presidential Fitness Award. Around that time, Nick apparently told one of his friends, “Skyler would be the perfect fit for me.” As fate would have it, the timing simply wasn’t right… yet. Throughout middle school and high school, their lives ran quietly parallel. As if an invisible string were connecting them. They would pass each other in the hallways from time to time but never truly crossed paths. Until senior year, when Skyler choreographed a dance routine that Nick and his friends were performing in. In a moment that perfectly captured Nick’s spirit, he volunteered to perform a backflip in the routine and even wore Skyler’s dance uniform for the performance.
