The two met through a blind date set up by Serena's parents and Nick's grandparents. Nick and Serena were born 6 weeks apart and from that time on both couples would always joke about setting them up. At Nick's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary, Serena's dad asked if Nick would want to go on a date with his daughter. Nick agreed and they went for dinner to Lucianos and then mini golfing after. The rest is history! Serena and Nick have been together since before college and can't wait for this next chapter in their lives.

Nick proposed in New York City on August 31, 2019. They had planned a weekend get away for Labor Day, and thought it would be fun to surprise each other by each planning an entire day of activities in NYC. Nick had Saturday, so they started out by going to their favorite breakfast place in Manhattan for scones. Following this, they walked around for a bit then went to Brooklyn for pizza at Grimaldis, Nick's favorite pizza shop. A short subway ride landed them at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Serena's favorite flowers are roses, so Nick took her to the rose gardens and got down on one knee there. He also surprised her by having a photographer follow them around the gardens for 2 hours. They finished the day off by having dinner outside on the water in Manhattan, watching the beautiful sunset with a great view of the Statue of Liberty.
