Skyline Chili
Staying true to our Cincinnati pride another staple is the local delicacy Skyline Chili. People either love it or they hate it. More of a sauce than a stew and most popularly served as a cheese coney, or over spaghetti as 3-way or 4-way. Meghan will admit it took her over half a decade to decide to try the local dish. Founded in 1949 by Greek immigrant Nicholas Lambrinides, Skyline Chili is named for the view of Cincinnati's skyline that Lambrinides could see from the first restaurant and has a unique flavor profile with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. Just across the river from Cincinnati New Riff is the start of the Kentucky Bourbon trail. A must stop favorite of Ron's and Meghan's founded in 2014, independently owned by one family it's a new riff on an old tradition. New Riff is boasted as one of the greatest small distilleries in the world with a commitment to quality. Stop by the new Aquifer for a tasting or craft cocktail OR book a tour ASAP!! ****Plan ahead because these guys are usually booked out weeks ahead for weekend tours! ***
Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is the second oldest zoo in the United States, founded in 1873. One of the top zoos in the country and beautiful gardens throughout. Stop in for a quick walk or a full afternoon. Ride the train and don't miss hippo cove and Fiona and Fritz! Meghan and Nick are season ticket holders and their favorite exhibits are roo valley and the blue penguins as well as the manatees and hippos!
