On December 19th, we went on our annual Christmas trip to Florida, specifically Lighthouse Point. Every year Nick and I plan a nice date to go on together. This year, Nick mentioned a sailboat ride. At first, I thought the whole family was going, then he broke the news and said this was our special date! Me not thinking about anything, was living life per usual and enjoying my day. We get onto the boat, meet the Captain (Eagles fan from Philly, we instantly got along) and the co-captain who was very sweet old man as well. We went for a ride, pulled over for some lunch, got back on and I made some jokes about this being perfect place to propose. Well, me not noticing what was going to happen, continued to enjoy our ride. As we cross under the bridge and approached the lighthouse, Nick said this would be a great time to get a photo. We make our way to the back of the boat along the side and take a few photos. As I am climbing down, I turn around and Nick is there on one knee! My heart sank, picturing this moment for so many years, I couldn’t have asked for anything better. He popped the question, we drove around and enjoyed the shock, and went back to our place, popped champagne, poured shots of tequila (of course) and celebrated the best day of our lives.
