How We Met

8.5.2017

Our Story We became acquaintances through Jimmy and Skylar's Bible study. We got to know each other a lot better when we started playing doubles tennis. It started off as a simple friendship, and a lot of lost tennis matches! I was still somewhat of a beginner, but Nic was patient with me. After a few matches we started hanging out more and more - lunch, a yoga class, a day trip to Miami, etc. I remember during our trip to Miami we decided to grab Thai food before the long ride home. We sat down in this mysteriously empty restaurant at a table for two. Nic looked at me and said, "tell me your story, from start to finish". I wasn't quite sure what to say or where to begin, but I knew that that probably wasn't a question you ask just anyone. A week later we ended up at Momentum Brewery, we laughed our way through corn hole and 'spoons' with our friend Gaby. At the end of the night Nic made sure we were alone as he walked me back to my car. He threw me over his shoulder and gently placed me back down on the hood of my car and quickly kissed me, "I like you" he said. The rest is history in the making!

The Proposal

10.14.2018

I decided to take Lydia to her favorite restaurant, USS Nemo, to have one of our favorite dishes in town, Miso Sea Bass. We had done the same thing exactly one year before on her 27th birthday. On her 27th we had also visited Seagate Beach and went for an evening walk. That was Lydias first time at the beach at night, so I decided we should do the same thing again. It could be our little tradition. Michael, my brother, was in town, but he was headed back to Tampa that evening. I told Lydia that Mike would meet us at the beach after dinner to say goodbye. Little did she know that I really wanted Mike at the beach so that he could take a video of the proposal. We got to the beach and started playing paddle ball. Mike was texting me periodically to keep me up to date on his arrival. When he arrived I told Lydia that he was there to say goodbye to us. Now this is where Lydia says I gave it away. I asked Mike to take our picture. She knows that I would NEVER ask for someone to take my picture. So as soon as I did she knew something was afoot. Instead of taking our picture, Mike actually took a video. After a few moments, I looked at Lydia, told her I loved her and asked her to marry me. I got down on one knee and she said yes!
