Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine

Fort McHenry is a historic fort that most famously defended Baltimore from an attack by the British Royal Navy during the War of 1812. This battle inspired Francis Scott Key to write the words that became the national anthem. Today the fort is a national park that has a walking path along the edge of the peninsula and offers tours of the star fort.
