Great Guyanese food, big variety with dessert options as well. This is a to-go place, there is no indoor seating. If you go here, walk in, pick a number from the roll on the wall, and listen for your number to be called. We recommend looking at the menu before hand so that you know what you want.
Looking for cheap Caribbean food that Nick and Leah both enjoy? Sonny's Roti Shop offers a variety of Caribbean classics but the doubles (a Trinidadian dish) is delicious, cheap, and filling. Also pick up a cream soda. The A train station is nearby for easy travel into Manhattan.
Hibiscus Restaurant and Bar offers Guyanese Chinese food serving everything from curry to fried rice. Meals are usually affordable and there are many drink options. Great for lunch or dinner!
For great Indian food at reasonable prices! Lunch buffet during the week usually costs about $24.00 for 2 people (last time we checked)!
Great Japanese and Thai cuisine in Queens. Near several bus routes. We like their chicken drunken noodles! Good for lunch or dinner!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers displays art and media from many different cultures and countries. We recommend planning to visit for about half of the day if you want to see at least half of what they have. Also, food in this part of Manhattan is VERY expensive so we recommend eating before traveling there and then planning a meal after your trip back (but do whatever you want).
If the weather is not too cold, this is a great option to walk around and see wildlife (likely very little but hey, it's New York). If you are walking on the beach DO NOT pick up fruit, coconut, trash etc. Some religious ceremonies are performed on the beach and it is not safe to touch anything left behind. Sometimes you can see horseshoe crabs or angry geese!
Great museum for a short trip. Located in a beautiful park which we recommend taking a walk or bike ride in (there are different spots in the park that rent bikes) if the weather is not too cold.
