Things To Do

Donner Lake/Donner Memorial State Park

Donner Lake/Donner Memorial State Park

Truckee, CA 96161

Donner Lake is just one of the many beautiful lakes in the area. It is the closest lake to the venue and offers many fun outdoor activities. In the summer, you can plan to fish, kayak, hike on the many trails around Donner Memorial State Park, or just relax on the beach at Donner Lake. There are also many restaurants and bars on and near the lake. We love to take Donner Pass and stop at Donner Summit Overlook, which has a breathtaking overview of Donner Lake, as well as the surrounding areas. The picture attached is one that we took during a visit. We hope you enjoy the lake as much as we do!

Historic Downtown Truckee

Historic Downtown Truckee

Downtown Truckee is one of our favorite places to visit when we stay in the area. The area has so many unique restaurants, bars, shopping, and views. We love walking around, trying different restaurants, and just enjoying the beauty of the area. We highly recommend visiting Downtown Truckee!

Tahoe Donner Golf Course

North Lake Tahoe

North Lake Tahoe

Kings Beach, CA 96143

If you are planning a longer stay in the area, we recommend visiting North Lake Tahoe. First time visitors often don't realize how big Lake Tahoe is and that it takes almost an hour without traffic to get from one end to the other. Truckee is closest to North Lake Tahoe (about a 20 minute drive without traffic). King's Beach is a very popular area on Lake Tahoe. There are also many hiking trails with beautiful views all over North Lake Tahoe. We took a hike on the Stateline Lookout Trail this past summer which took us from the California border, into Nevada, back to California and the trail ended at the lookout point with an amazing view of Lake Tahoe. Please let us know if you would like any recommendations for visiting Lake Tahoe.
