How we met

First comes horses, then comes marriage

Nicholas decided to join the University of Minnesota Equestrian team while Kerry was serving as treasurer her sophomore year and his junior year after he transferred from the University of Wisconsin - Superior. At this point, Nicholas would be only one of two boys on the team. He immediately caught Kerry's eye and she called "dibs." After Kerry's unfortunate car crash on an icy road, she needed a ride to the barn where she was boarding her horse at the time. This was the perfect opportunity to get to know the new boy on the team! Of course Nicholas obliged and he went back to his house in Inver Grove Heights just to get a car so he could drive Kerry because he didn't have one on campus. The first time they went to the barn together, Kerry got bucked off her horse but that did not deter Nicholas from this crazy horse girl!

The Proposal

9.16.16

Kerry was coming back to Minnesota from being at a horse show in WI. Nicholas had his cousin in town to help him rebuild the upper deck on his duplex. They had planned to go to dinner with Kerry's mom and brother that Friday night because they were coming to visit. The night before, Kerry went to dinner with Lauren, Melissa and Thomas. They all knew what was happening the next day but had to keep it a secret. Lauren asked Kerry to go to the salon and get her nails done because she had a gift card...nice excuse ;) Friday morning Kerry headed out for her manicure and as dinner rolled around she got ready and thankfully picked out Nicholas' outfit because later she would find out that there would be pictures that night. As they headed downtown, Kerry felt Nicholas was acting a little strange. They took a walk underneath the Stonearch Bridge and he popped the question! Thats when friends and family showed their faces from atop the bridge and Brad (Nicholas' father) came out from hiding with his camera to capture the special moment.
