Jenee had just moved to Andover, MN, and they ended up talking in the middle school lunch line. Both took choir and remained friends throughout high school.
They started dating after Jenee began college. They had grown closer since the end of high school and realized they had a lot in common, including a love for music, anime, and pups, to name a few!
They picked out the engagement ring together about a year prior to the big question. Nick had been dropping hints about wanting to get engaged before their anniversary, which was on November 30th. That day was full of chaos as Nick managed to gather their friends and family at his parents' house for the proposal and engagement party. The entire day, Jenee knew the proposal was coming. Nick had been texting her all day to make sure she left work on time and came to his parents’ house to "watch the hockey game." Nick had never been the micromanaging type; that was usually Jenee's role. When she arrived at his parents' house, he walked her inside, claiming "the garage was broken" after being fixed a week earlier, and then popped the question. Even though she knew it was coming, she was still so taken aback that, in Nick's words, she "didn't answer for a few minutes" and just stared at him.
