The funny truth is, love always finds you when you least expect it. There is no secret to finding love but to be yourself. The first question people tend to ask is "How did you guys meet?", because truth be told, it's always fascinating how and why two people fall for each other. We attended a charity boat ride on the Caribbean Queen on Port Royal Street on February 7, 2010. It was also a rainy and cold night and your girl had on a halter, floral maxi dress. Okay, maybe she was expecting to meet a little future bae there. [Isheka] I started to get hungry. I made my way to the buffet where I got some pastries. I had to go up a flight of stairs back to where my mom was. Walking up the stairs, I heard a voice... [Nicholas] " beg you piece nuh." Y'all ever seen a black woman blush? What the hell did I know at sixteen years old? I pretended not to hear, but my tits quickly answered. While making my way up the stairs and ignoring this man (handsome boy) trying to holler at me, I stepped on my dress and my tits jumped out to say hello. I was sixteen and freaking embarrassed. I hurriedly put those bad boys in and hastily made my way to my mom. Nice way to get a boy's attention, right? The music playing started to get to my head. I stepped out on the deck for a quick minute. I heard the same voice saying... [Nicholas] "Do you want a jacket?" [Isheka] It was freezing cold and I was hugging myself while admiring the view. I didn't even realize he was out there (okay, maybe I did). "Haven't you seen enough?" I thought to myself. I answered him this time and quickly disappeared. The Charity ride was over. It was time to go home. The most memorable moment of this boat ride was that I showed a complete stranger my tits. Something juicy to share with my friends Monday morning, right? Walking out, a random woman stopped me to compliment my dress and how it looked good on me. The Jamaican in me thought this woman is bloody funny, until she handed me something in my hand. I bet y'all can't guess what it was? When I opened my hand, it was a piece of paper with a name and phone number. She proceeded to say, while pointing in the direction of this man (handsome boy), who had been making every effort to get my attention and said, "My friend likes you." "Is this Love At First Tit?" I thought to myself.
Believe it or not, women dream of fairytale engagements just as how they do weddings. The pressure to orchestrate the perfect proposal lies heavily on our men. "Dem Afi Come Good!" It's the most kairotic moment in the relationship; the moment you decide, SHE IS THE ONE. Christmas Wishlist It's December 2019 and we just had our beautiful baby girl. I was focused on being a MOM for the first time. Christmas is approaching and we usually have family pixies around this time. That year was exciting, as there was a new baby on the block and Nicholas' sister was here for the holidays. I was excited, so I planned the family pixie, get everyone to choose names, made a wish list so persons could add what they wanted without their pixie knowing its them. So hung up on being a first time mom and just excited for my baby girl, getting myself together for the holidays was not on my mind at all. "Go get your hair and nails done!" Nicholas was never the one to tell me to get my hair and nails done. Then again, he never had to. That should have been my first clue, but this girl was clueless. Apprehensive Mother-in-Law A week before my hair appointment, my mother-in-law convinced me she lost a ring. A ring that was supposedly her engagement ring. About to go on the road, she popped up with the ring she claimed she had lost trying to fit it on my finger to see if it would "fit" me. She was trying to get my ring size and I was still clueless. Second clue flew pass me in a minute. Getting ready for my hair appointment and i was trying to empty my breasts before going on the road. To my surprise, everybody was tagging along. I didn't question it because Nicholas' days off are fickle and tis the holidays, everybody wanna drive out. Normally, Nicholas would call me every hour to find out if "me soon done." I got zero calls that day. My breasts were getting heavy on me and my hair was nowhere near finished. Thank God, the supervisor at Babaestyles had fit me in for the next day to continue my hair. Which man you know prefer to be driving around waiting for you to finish at the hairdresser, for two days ?! I know certainly not mine. He curses every time I have a hair appointment to this day. That day, not even a peep. I should have known, but me, clueless ! Christmas Day - Engagement Everybody was busy trying to wrap or hide their gifts before exchanging and getting ready for Christmas dinner. I had invited my parents and our good friends, but my Mom got the invite long ago. I was anxious to start the gift exchange because my pixie was Nicholas and I had gotten him the best Christmas gift ever. Everybody wanted to wait until all the family and friends got there. Suspicious right? Me, clueless. My mom called to say she couldn't make it again and I was so mad because we are waiting on them to start. Eventually, she turned up and we were ready. My mom came to me and asked me my favourite song. "Why do we need songs for pixie?" His Gift It was his first Christmas as Daddy and boy, I was glad he was my pixie because, you know, one gift. I got an engraved box with his favourite stuff, Appleton ! I swore my gift was the best. I wanted to go first because I thought my gift was the best. Exchanged my gift and now it was Nicholas' turn. Coincidentally, I was his pixie. I don't know how that happened but let me say, maybe it was destined. God knew what he was doing. He handed me a box and I had to open it. It took me awhile until I started to get big mad because why do I have to go through so much to unbox my gift. Finally got in the box and there was a teddy bear wearing a shirt that said "Isheka, Will You Marry Me!" Turned around and I see this man on his knee. I ugly cried yes before he could pop the question. That was the end of the pixie if I may add. Imagine being engaged surrounded by your immediate family and closest friends? He did good.
