What type of attire should I wear?

Answer

We invite you to dress in cocktail attire with a tropical flair—think light, breathable fabrics, vibrant colors, and island-inspired prints. Kindly avoid wearing white or ivory. Our bridal party will be in sage green, so you may wish to choose a different color if you prefer not to match them. Wedding will be outdoors, so we recommend dressing comfortably and considering sun protection. We recommend comfortable footwear suitable for outdoor lawn and patio settings.

What is the weather?

Answer

Expect tropical bliss! September in Ko Olina is warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures typically in the high 80s°F and evenings in the mid-70s°F. It’s usually dry with occasional light breezes off the ocean. We recommend light, breathable clothing, sunscreen, and a hat for the daytime, plus a light layer for the evenings when it can feel a bit cooler by the water. Don't forget reef-safe sunscreen (it's the law in Hawaii!).

What is "Reef-Safe" Sunscreen?

Hawaii law prohibits sunscreens with oxybenzone and octinoxate. Please check your labels or buy your SPF at the resort to help protect the local coral reefs!

Is this a "kids-only" resort?

Not at all! While Disney magic is everywhere, Aulani was designed to highlight Hawaiian culture. There are adult-only pools, a world-class spa, and high-end dining that feel very sophisticated.

Do I need the Aulani App?

Yes! Download it before you land. It’s the only way to see the daily "Daily ‘Iwa" (activity schedule), character meet-and-greets, and restaurant menus.

Will the ceremony be on sand?

No, while we may take pictures on the beach you won't have to walk through sand between ceremony and reception.

Aulani has an indoor backup location, so the party goes on regardless of a passing tropical shower.

Is there a grocery store nearby?

Answer

Yes! Island Country Markets (ABC Store) is across the street for snacks, deli items, and souvenirs. For a full grocery run, Target, Costco, and Safeway are a 10-minute drive away in Kapolei.

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

If you plan on staying in Ko Olina the whole time, you won’t need a car. Everything for the wedding and resort stay is close by. If you’d like to explore the rest of the island, renting a car is recommended. You can pick one up at the HNL airport or use the Alamo rental desk on-site at Aulani for convenient day rentals.

Do I need dining reservations?

Yes, especially for Makahiki and 'AMA'AMA. These usually open 30 days in advance and fill up instantly.

Is there a resort fee?

Aulani does not charge a standard "resort fee," but parking and certain activities (like snorkeling in Rainbow Reef) do have separate costs.

What should I pack?

Answer

Pack light, breathable clothing for warm tropical weather, along with something a bit dressy for the wedding events. Comfortable walking shoes are key, plus sandals for the beach or pool. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. We also recommend bringing a light sweater or cardigan for cooler evenings (the ocean breeze and air conditioning can feel chilly at night). Reusable water bottles are great for staying hydrated, and Aulani has plenty of filtered refill stations throughout the resort. Multiple swimsuits are also a good idea so you always have a dry one ready for the next day.

What should I wear to Luau?

Answer

Dress comfortably and have fun with it! Tropical casual or luau-inspired attire works great—aloha shirts, sundresses, light fabrics, and sandals are perfect. Since the evening is outdoors, we recommend shoes you can walk in easily.
