Our love story

June 24, 2023

We all have heard the phrase " there are plenty of fish in the sea", right? Well what they really don't tell us is... what happens when you hook that perfect fish? This is a story of how Heather, a single mom of two, and Nick, a single father of one, were lucky enough to find one another in that big sea. It all started towards the end of a cold November when Nick baited his hook and casted it out and sent Heather a message. They talked for a couple of weeks, before Heather took the bait and agreed to go on a date. Despite the cold and blustery weather, on Tuesday, December 13th, 2019, they took that very first date to Longhorn Steakhouse. They shared a very nice meal and enjoyed each others company so much they missed their movie. This was the start of it all from that moment on, they have been together. It was love at first cast! On Thursday, February 6th, 2020, they decided to make it official and he was introduced to her two kids. Just in time for the COVID Pandemic, isn't he so lucky to get to spend the quarantine with them. They enjoyed many adventures together as a family! They took their first long trip on Nick's dyna, Charlene, to Sioux Falls so Heather could meet his friends, then to Rapid City to ride the hills, then down onto Denver for Nick to met her sister, Peggy and niece, Jacee. They had so much fun there, they visited man made castles, went hiking in the Garden of the Gods, yes Heather went hiking, hard to believe, I know! They had a great time and headed home. When they arrived home, Heather discovered her love for how freeing riding is, but Charlene was not meant for a passenger on those long rides! Nick took Heather to Wisconsin for her first ARM International event. They had a friend who was having some issues with their bike, so one of the first stops was Harley... of course due to his friends convincing and Heather's very enthusiastic approval, they left that great trip with a brand new bike, meant for touring with a passenger. Heather was so thankful, however Nick still misses Charlene, his first love. They took many adventures together as a family, they enjoyed going to the lake with family to go fishing and to teach the kids how to go tubing! They enjoyed going to the family farm spending time with Heather's family and Nick learned how to play pinochle, even though they still can't win a game to save their lives! In the spring of 2021, they were blessed to get custody of Nick's son, Gabe. They enjoyed so many fun activities together as a family, Nick taught Jude to shoot a gun out at the farm with Heather's dad, Marv. They took the kids to the fair. They visited the zoo, where Gabe was infatuated with the animals. Nick took Jude to some haunted houses, where Judes humor was able to shine bright, when the actors were in his face trying to scare him, Jude's response was "you need a breath mint, my guy" some feeling were hurt that night. haha They taught Sadie how to rollarblade and Nick took her for a few puts and she fell in love with riding, she wants her own now! They taught Gabe how to ride his first bike, he was so proud! They also purchased their first home together! On Friday, December 10th, 2021, they had reservations to go to dinner for their second anniversary. They had ordered dinner for Jude, who was going to be staying home that night while the other kids were with the sitter. While waiting for the food to be delivered, Heather was sitting on the couch scrolling her phone, and she noticed Nick acting strange, by pacing and acting nervous. He then leaned over with a box in his hand and said here I got this for you, I wanted to give it to you at dinner but my nerves for the best of me. Heather was confused he then said "I want you to be my wife, will you be my wife?" Of course eather said yes and cried A LOT... Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this tail on how this lucky guys fishing dreams came true when he caught her.
