I Do!

Our story began with a FaceTime that probably should’ve been awkward, but it wasn’t. A few hours later, he sent the most casual, zero chill text in history: “So when’s the wedding?”. Gabby laughed, rolled her eyes, and told her friends that this guy was “either crazy or funny.” He lived in New York. She lived in Chicago. One of us was going to have to make the first move, but before we could figure that out, his friend Joey decided to take matters (and airline miles) into his own hands. Two months after we started talking, Joey surprised him by flying Gabby out for his birthday. It was either going to be the best gift ever… or the most awkward weekend in history. Spoiler: they’re getting married. (Still undecided if Joey’s a hero or not.) After years of FaceTimes, long-distance flights (which we both swore we hated), and countless “I miss you” texts, we finally landed in the same city. Now we’re building our life together in Chicago, just the two of us and our furry third wheel, Koda. As we plan the day we both dreamed about growing up, it still feels a little unreal that a random FaceTime, a bold “When’s the wedding?” text, and one very risky birthday surprise brought us here. Now, we can’t wait to trade in FaceTime calls for champagne toasts and celebrate this next chapter surrounded by all the people who’ve loved and supported us along the way.
