Our love story, like so many millennial’s, involves social media and beer. We first met at college parties when we were both living in Charleston, SC (one of us was in college while the other was there taking a “year off”). Of course everyone Facebook friends everyone their freshman year. And even though we knew of each other, it wasn’t until a beer festival 4 years later where we reconnected and bonded over our mutual love for pistachio ice cream. We quickly went from Facebook acquaintances to best friends to long distance relationship. Fast forward about 4 more years, after grad school, job changes, and 3 moves, we were vacationing at a beach in sunny San Luis Obispo, California. What was supposed to be a romantic 3 hour drive along the PCH, ended up being a 4.5 hour road trip north through the desolate desert and orange groves of California due to the crazy mudslides of 2018. We started the day exploring the city and enjoying the cute town, but we were both sick as dogs with sinus infections. We decided to go to a secluded beach, Montaña de Oro, to watch the beautiful sunset. While looking for sea glass on the beach, I hear “hey Em, I found a great one!” and turn around to see him on one knee. I shouted yes and we were engaged! We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you at the beach!!
