The Republic of Ireland
- Taaffes Castle, a bar in Carlingford that was once a stone castle tower. Great live music. It's in the Republic of Ireland, but only 25 minutes from Niall's town (Newry) in Northern Ireland. - Slane Castle. Amazing rock and roll history! It’s in County Meath near Dublin. - The Newgrange tombs from the Stone Age. In County Meath not far from Dublin. - Hiking or walking trails in Glendalough near Dublin. - The Guinness Storehouse Factory in Dublin, another one of our faves. - Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin, absolutely amazing history and tours! - Temple Bar neighborhood in Dublin. - St. Stephen’s Park in Dublin. - Trinity College in Dublin. - The Cliffs of Moher, absolutely incredible and not too far from Galway. - Galway, the city center is fantastic and lively. The best live music I ever heard was at The Quays Bar and Restaurant. (The Quays is pronounced like “the keys.”) - County Kerry, known for its pockets of Irish-language speakers and breathtaking scenery.
Northern Ireland
- Giant’s Causeway. Very cool, it's an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. This dramatic location has inspired legends of giants walking over the sea to Scotland. - Derry, a city in Northern Ireland that was a big site for the Irish civil rights movement against long-lasting oppression. - The Titanic Museum in Belfast (one of the coolest places I’ve ever been, we spent hours there!) It's located in the spot where the Titanic itself was built! And it does contain original artifacts from the Titanic. - A black taxi tour in Belfast. - Castle Ward in Northern Ireland if you’re a Game of Thrones fan. They do Game of Thrones tours and activities there because the show filmed there for Winterfell. - Game of Thrones Studio Tour. Located at the authentic filming location of Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, Game of Thrones Studio Tour invites you to step behind the scenes of The Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
