Our Love Story

How Did We Get Here?

It began with a message neither of us expected to matter. In 2019, an Instagram DM turned into conversations we didn’t want to end. Replies came faster. Days felt incomplete without checking in. Somewhere between curiosity and comfort, we realized this wasn’t casual anymore. Amber, born and raised in New York, and Ernest, The Mighty Koba, a proud Cameroonian living in Delaware, were living separate lives in separate cities. Distance felt safe at first. Then it didn’t. Eventually, it became the only thing standing in the way. Meeting in person meant being brave. Amber brought her best friend. Ernest brought his. On November 2, 2019, everything shifted. By the end of that first date, we weren’t checking the time anymore. Conversation flowed without effort and laughter came easily. We didn’t say it out loud yet, but we both knew: this was different. From that moment on, being apart felt temporary. Being together felt inevitable. Long distance taught us how to cherish time. Every reunion felt like a celebration. Amber tried her first Philly cheesesteak. Ernest learned the rhythm of New York subways and discovered his love for chopped cheese. We explored each other’s cities, shared worlds, and memories that felt effortless and real. Before Ernest officially asked Amber to be his girlfriend, we stood together in front of a camera for the first time. A photoshoot that was more than just pictures, we stood proud in our identity. Cameroonian warrior pride alongside Caribbean carnival vibrancy. Two cultures learning how to move as one. This photo is in our gallery! That same weekend, Ernest filmed his first music video, Champagne, a celebration of Black excellence, creativity, and love, with Amber as his leading lady. Later that night, under the glow of the Philadelphia waterfront, intention turned into something undeniable. That night, January 19, 2020, Ernest asked Amber to be his girlfriend. There were tears. “I love you.” And dancing until the night disappeared. Just one month later, we took our first trip together. Los Angeles felt wide open. We biked along the beach, explored Hollywood, and ate our way through the city like true food lovers. Everything felt possible, right before the world shutdown. When quarantine arrived, many relationships were tested. Ours was revealed. Side by side, we learned the small things, habits, quirks, and silences. We worked from home together, hiked, had dance battles, painted murals, and found joy in uncertainty. Love stopped being something we talked about and became something we practiced. Every day. Together, our love expanded across oceans and borders, 10 countries and counting. Rediscovering ourselves, building businesses, launching our first Airbnb, welcoming over 1,000 guests, and learned how to trust each other deep enough to take risks. To dream out loud and build a life, together. We celebrated wins, weathered challenges, supported dreams, and shared our love with the world, sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly, always intentionally. On January 11, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, Ernest got down on one knee. Through tears, laughter, and a moment that felt like everything leading exactly where it was meant to, Amber said yes. Now, as we prepare to say “I do” on July 11, 2026, we’re not just celebrating a wedding. We’re honoring a journey. A love shaped by distance, strengthened by time, and rooted in intention. A union of Cameroonian and Caribbean cultures. A promise to keep choosing each other. This isn’t the end of our story. It’s where we invite you in. Thank you for walking with us, loving us, and being part of the chapters that brought us here. We can’t wait to celebrate with you 💛 With love, Amber & Ernest
