The first time I met Nga was at the Museum of Discovery, based in Little Rock Arkansas. I was a volunteer at the museum, and I saw Nga browsing through the different arts in the exhibits. I approached her to show her around. We started talking and found we had common interests: we're both from the coast (east/west), and we moved to AR for our jobs. Being in AR and in the military, there was not a lot of diversity, so talking with Nga, it was like talking to someone familiar. We bonded right away. I feel lucky to have met Nga the way I did.
After 6 months of being depressed, living alone in AR and far away from family and friends in FL, I decided to finally go out to the science museum's adult night. I grabbed my beer and went to meet the Meetup.com group and quickly yeeted my way out of that. I decided that I should at least finish my beer and then go home. As I was exploring, this random dude comes up and asks if I've been enjoying the exhibits and i'm like "alright, my girls know where I am and if they don't hear from me by 11 pm, they'll call the cops". We walked and talked and enjoyed each other's company inside the museum and outside on the river walk. I told him that I didn't have friends here yet, so if he ever wanted to grab food, I'd be down to hang out. We started out as 2 members of the "We're the only Asians in all of Little Rock, AR" club, and blossomed into an inseparable duo with a zoo of furry babies.
