David and Nga met in graduate school, but not on the first day since Nga unwittingly skipped it. On the second day while Nga was eating lunch, David approached her with some random questions and invited himself to sit at her table. They became fast friends and soon formed a study group. During study sessions David and Nga quickly learned they shared a love of proteins, chemical reactions, Cali and each other. Their relationship survived the pandemic as well as the 2-year long-distance separation during David’s time in Oklahoma City finishing his graduate research. When graduation neared, the next step was obvious. David asked “Will you?” and Nga said “Yes!”
