How We Met

Her: It started off as another normal year for me in college. I just began my Master’s In Teaching program, and was looking for some part time work so I wouldn’t be a broke college kid. God opened up the doors for me to teach a few math classes in Rosedale Christian Academy, where I thought I’d get a decent chunk of change and some extra experience teaching. But God had greater plans for me. Little did I know that the handsome young man who had also begun teaching there not too long before I did would end up becoming the love of my life. It wasn’t until I had begun my student teaching at Poly did a family friend set the two of us up, and we had an amazing first date at Barnes and Noble getting lost in the world of books and delightful conversations. After some delicious tacos and a brutal loss in mini golf, I had a hunch that this date with the lovely fella wouldn’t be my last. And what do you know, the wife (well in this case future wife) is ALWAYS RIGHT!

The Proposal

Pale pink and creamy white cherry blossom petals gently carpeted the crowded DC sidewalks during a sunny March day. Winter had finally laid to rest as it was the onset of spring- a perfect time for new beginnings, the seeds of our love and devotion blossoming into an assurance that we’d take our vows of commitment and faithfulness to each other for the world and God to see in the near future. After a fun day of taking in the beauty of the Cherry Blossom Festival, enjoying the savory pasta and rich tiramisu at a nice Italian restaurant, and walking peacefully along the streets and memorials, an extremely lovely memory had been made that evening. A swell and good-natured gentleman went down on one knee and asked the question to the future Mrs. Newton. You can guess how she responded. :)
