Best Man
Almost 6 years ago Kota was born in Vermont. His photo ended up on Facebook which ended up on Brittany's feed. The second she saw his little puppy face covered in fleas, swarming with worms, and missing ribs, she knew she was destined to smother him with love. Kota and Brittany spent 3 beautiful years together traveling the east coast hiking mountains, taking little naps, and spooning in any Airbnb they could find. It was an unexpected day in October when Kota found himself in a car with a random bearded Man. Kota was skeptical at first-but after spending a full day of hiking he decided to treat Shane to the ultimate test. Shane leaned in to share the very first kiss with Brittany and Kota quickly swooped in to Kiss Shane first. With approval from Kota, we then became a family of three.

As Shane’s Mom, Wanda has always been impressed with how reliable, confident and hard working Shane is, and Dan (a late entrance to the rodeo) felt the same. From his education and work, he has been persistent and considered his future self’s perspective of what he might be facing at the time, to help direct his path forward. They wondered what it would take to turn his heart to a lasting life-long commitment...Enter Brittany! They saw a change immediately as he grew deeper in Love with Brittany. They suspected he might take a back seat to Kota, but Brittany captured Shane’s heart completely and at the same time, she took theirs captive as well. Two Families blessed to become one. They are proud, happy and looking forward to witnessing this powerhouse couple bring their dreams to reality!
Roxanne & Stephen Newman
Father and Mother of the Bride
Their story began forty years ago when a studious and athletic fifteen-year-old met a humorous and kind army paratrooper (his physical attributes did not hurt). They married four years later, after a long-distance romance filled with letters and poems (this of course before cell phones, email, Skype, etc.). Brittany was the second of three babies in three years and the only daughter. Roxanne encouraged strength and independence balanced with kindness and safety. Steve always has and always will do everything in his power to make his little girl happy. They could not be prouder of the woman she has become and the man she has chosen to wed.

Father of the Groom
It all started some 50 years ago with the birth of child #1, Laurie. 20 years later child #2, Shane was born. Dad could not be more proud of the two of them. Shane started by flipping burgers than moved on to washing dishes at the University of Maine. Later he got into the electric shop, and eventually began working with dad wiring houses. He made a good decision to move on to finance. Best memories are the Tennessee trip with Dad and Uncle David. Wonderful time, never to forget it. Very lucky he has Brittany, they are made for each other. Wishing them both a long and happy life together.

Flower Child
Amber’s pretty familiar with the groom, being his little sister and all. hard to forget the controller flying across the room and the constant cry’s for mom, good times. Amber grew up feeling very confident in the fact that shane was gonna be bald and alone, thank god for Britt and boo bear! Well for at least the being alone part. Amber spends a lot of her time putting dead flowers in her car, collecting stones, working for Acadia Landscape + Design in Bar Harbor Maine, and snap chatting Britt begging her for pictures of Kota. instant reply’s. She’s so so happy Shane found someone who can deal with his drastic purchases and crazy family because there was only one of you out there<3 She loves you three dearly and is so blessed for such an amazing sister in law to annoy Shane with.
Brandon, Helen, Murphy, & Ava
First Brother/ Family of the Bride
Brandon has known Brittany her entire life, being her older brother and all. There were definitely sibling squabbles and injuries swapped between Brandon, Brittany, and Zach, but they always supported each other and did pretty much everything together growing up. Brandon met Helen at UMaine. Their passion for hiking and volunteering brought them together - they married in 2017. A few months later, Murphy, their goofy, lovable, golden retriever joined the pack. Then Ava came along three years later to disrupt everything. Murphy and Ava have started bonding over Ava’s love to throw food and Murphy’s love to eat it. The happy family can’t wait to have more Maine wilderness adventures with the newlyweds!
Zachary Newman
Second Brother of the Bride
Zachary Ryan Newman’s origins are unclear. His childhood was incomparable to his siblings'. His seclusion began with the deviation of naming nomenclature with his sibling’s initials being BMN. Zach’s genetic inheritance was unfavorable as the Golden Boy and Pretty One displayed Nordic genes while Zach resembled a grizzly bear. Pseudonyms, Son #2 or Homer, the dog’s name, were used as psychological warfare. In retaliation as a Microbiologist, Zach utilized his superior intellect to ravage their way of life via COVID and the sublime stupidity of people. The INTJ optimized his niche while demoralizing his extroverted siblings. Brittany was the opposite leading her to Shane, or KitKat because who wouldn't want to break off a piece of that *clears throat*. Clearly, Zach is the best Newman.

Wedding Planner
Jenna is the unofficial third-wheel/ tag along. When she is not busy drinking wine, eating pizza, or on a run, she is busy curating a Pinterest board for her dream room inside Brittany and Shane's new home. Jenna is also responsible for any and all bad jokes or puns on this website (she is also responsible for any typos- please shame her accordingly).
Courtney, Scott + Deacon Dumas
Officiant + Official Sherpa/ Porter
Courtney and Brittany met in college. In fact, they were supposed to be roommates, but Britt did not want to live with her (all jokes - Britt just wanted to save some money, okay?). Fast forward several years, and Brittany performed a ribbon dance at Courtney and Scott's wedding! Now it's their turn to return the favor... by hiking 5 miles up a potentially frozen tundra, serving as officiant and the official sherpa/ porter. Deacon will be waiting for us at the bottom of the mountain to get the party started!
Nikki + Adam Williams
Official Hype-Woman & Arm Candy
It all started in the sixth grade. It included a yellow Winnie the Pooh t- shirt, a bad word, and a punch in the arm. And BOOM, the infamous BrittNAY and NikKAY friendship was born. Since then, this friendship has been filled with beach trips, loaves of banana bread, laps around a field hockey field (for fun), pink roses with glitter, Reduced-fat Wheat Thins, porch chats, and car karaoke. Brittany has also been a staple in the Williams’ story. She’s been there for celebrating their own engagement, helping plan/save their wedding from a disastrous flower and tablecloth debacle, and watching their daughters (two human and two dogs) while they went on a Babymoon before the birth of their third daughter. After 20+ years, Nikki couldn't imagine her life without the Michelle to her Romy.

Fate decided that Julie and Sean were meant to be. Kindergarten sweethearts turned Facebook love story sounds almost too impossible to be true. Fate also decided that we should be friends. We first met on top of a mountain last year. Julie was trying to figure out how to get back down the mountain on noodle legs. Sean was enjoying a summit beer when he was interrupted by Kota being VERY interested in his sandwich. Both couples secretly debated asking for the other’s digits- but never worked up the nerve. So fate stepped in. Sean and Brittany ran into each other the next week while walking/driving down the same road. Shane and Brittany are the first friends Sean and Julie have made since moving to Portland from California. They set the bar really high!
Nick Mitchell
Honorable Sir Drinks A Lot
Work, school and whiskey pretty much summed up Nicks initial friendship with Shane. While both working full-time and going to grad school, they developed a bond that persists to today -- and will until they are in nursing homes. While the ratio of whiskey to work has declined over the years, their friendship has remained constant and Nick couldn’t be more grateful for the positive influence Shane had on Nicks life. Nick knew things were changing for the better for Shane when he was in Waterville visiting Brittany on the weekends more than he was in Portland; it takes a special person to accept Shane for his hairline and I’m glad he found that in Brittany.

Honorable Increases the Groups Attractive Rate
Shane brought Brittany to a party with all 22 year olds early into their relationship. They were all in the shortest dresses and the tallest heals Brittany had ever seen. Brittany showed up in yoga pants, an over sized shirt with hiking socks and Bean Boots. Rough. But then, Chelsea (the face of an angel) started talking to Brittany and stated "If Shane and you don't work out, I'll date you instead" Sparks. Flew. (Chelsea looked like the 22 year olds but had the wit and life experience of a 60 year old Captain of a yacht sailing the seas of Gin) Brittany quickly latched onto her new Instagram model of a friend for dear life. Shane and Andrew had a bromance for many years before this. Andrew and Chelsea are newly weds. Blah blah, the real love story here is Brittany and Chelsea.
Kyle Cleary & Liz Adley

Shane and Kyle first locked eyes in kindergarten and it was brotherhood ever since. Shane is special. He has all of the characteristics in a friend would desire: loyalty, consistency, reliable and an absolute joy to be around. Obviously, he found someone who carries those same characteristics. Only Brittany could turn Liz into a hugger. Can you believe Shane, Brittany, Kyle & Liz all started dating the same weekend - a double date match made in heaven. From breweries to at-home hot toddies (ok we drink together a lot), dying on mountains (maybe that was just Liz); the memories we all hold together are some of our favorites. Many more to come :)

Will Dance for Chacuterie Boards
It all started when Ryan & Shane met in college at the University of Maine. They decided to venture on a trip together to Ireland. The luck of the Irish not only brought them the best of memories but it would also lead them to Brittany and Katelyn. Brittany & Shane invited Katelyn & Ryan to join a group of friends for a day full of all Brittany’s favorite things: Kota, Shane, and whiskey (in that order). That’s where Katelyn and Brittany developed their deep girl crushes for one another. Maybe it was the whiskey, the mutual love for dogs, or the great surrounding company, but Brittany and Katelyn soon became great friends-of course Shane and Ryan still had their friendship. Now, both couples forever exchange snaps of their dogs and make any excuse to visit one another from states away

BEST FRIEND OF THE GROOM & HIS TRIBE OF SHIELD MAIDENS
It started when Chris complimented Shane on his super sweet black Cadillac shirt he had worn to school that day, and they have been the best of friends since. Shane and Chris hung out after school every day. Chris very quickly became a part of Shane’s family, with Wanda essentially becoming his second mom, and even lived with Shane's Dad for a bit. Chris was then fortunate enough to "be in the same country" as Miriam, and the rest was history. Miriam is now the rock of the Johnson Clan. When Brittany came into the picture they knew Shane made one of the best decisions of his life, starting a life with her and Kota! They have gladly added her as an honorary member of their family and know she will be an amazing aunt to their little Viking babies & Fur Balls.
