Molly and Alex met while wee freshman at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). They were part of a large group of friends who ordered lots of Chinese takeout, visited the Farmers Market in downtown Troy on Saturdays, and stayed up having Lord of the Rings marathons prior to Thanksgiving break. They even spent all of winter break their freshman year conquering Helm's Deep with friends in Left 4 Dead 2.
Alex was coming ever closer to being crushed by Data Structures homework. Molly stayed up late doing homework with him in Davison Hall and talked to him about Pokémon. Alex thought laying on someone while watching a movie was not any indication of romantic feelings. Molly and all their friends wondered when he would finally say something... Alex finally got the hint and asked Molly out on a date. They went to the Whistling Kettle in Troy and the rest is history.
Throughout their years at RPI, Molly and Alex spent many of their days eating lots of Indian food at Shalimar, spending money at the comic book store Aquilonia, and doing their best to stay on top of the mounds of homework that were thrust upon them. They spent many a late night in the Games Room during Alex's work study, and even managed to sneak some time in at the pub for trivia nights their senior year. There were many late night walks around campus, later nights in the library, and at the end of 4.5 years, they emerged into a new dawn with both bachelor's and master's degrees. One of the highlights of their college careers was spending a semester at the Technical Institute of Denmark (DTU) in the Fall of 2017. Alex had never even left the country before! They spent time exploring Copenhagen and the surrounding area, as well as traveling all over Europe to England, Sweden, France, Italy, Switzerland, Scotland, and Germany. They might have even went to classes at some point too.
After graduating from college in December 2018, Molly and Alex picked up and moved to Connecticut (with a cheeky trip to Mexico for vacation first!) to start their lives as working adults. Along the way they adopted two precious cats (Jaime and Morgana) and it was probably the best thing that ever happened to them. With their regular visits to NYC for Broadway shows put on pause during the pandemic lockdown, they spent many of their days reading, doing puzzles, playing board games and video games, and hiking. And building LEGO sets. They have built LOTS of LEGOs.
Less than 24 hours before leaving for a long awaited vacation to Disney World, Alex asked Molly to go for an early morning walk in the woods at the cabin they were staying at with family in Pennsylvania. After spooking a few deer on their jaunt across the nearby creek, Alex got down on one knee and (struggling to get the ring box out of his pocket) made his long-awaited proposal. Little did everyone else present know they would wake up to an engagement announcement! With Molly's sister, Emma, the happy couple celebrated their engagement all the next week at the Happiest Place on Earth. They even managed to snag some free dessert at Ohana in celebration.
Since that special day, Molly and Alex's lives haven't slowed down. They even made the silly decision to buy a house in 2022! Along with Jaime and Morgana they are anxiously awaiting September 30, 2023.
