Ceremony

The Coptic Ceremony of Matrimony will be approximately one hour and has three main parts:
Exchanging of Rings & Adornments of Royalty
The rings are blessed and exchanged, signifying that in marriage the weakness of one will be compensated by the strength of the other. The bride and groom are adorned with capes and lavishly embroidered garments.
Anointing with Oil
The anointment of Holy Oil symbolizes spiritual protection for the bride and groom.
Blessing of Crowns
The priest places crowns on bride and groom while reciting prayers. The crowns symbolize that the bride and groom are the newly adorned rulers of their household.
