Jeanmarie and Sean had both been living in Hoboken since 2013, yet somehow had never crossed paths — until one very hot day in July 2024. Sean was heading to the bathroom at his favorite haunt, the The Madison Bar & Grill, when he was tapped on the shoulder by one of Jeanmarie’s more outgoing friends (thank you, Christine!) after Jeanmarie whispered, “That guy is cute.” Sean, looking slightly like a deer in headlights, said hello… and then promptly returned to his bar seat and club soda. EPIC. FAIL. He instantly regretted not making a move and had no choice but to resort to a little light Facebook stalking — until fate stepped in again. In November 2024, the stars aligned at The Madison once more. But this time, Sean didn’t let the opportunity pass him by. He asked Jeanmarie out. Their first date was just a few days later at Zack’s in Hoboken, followed by dessert at Antique Bar & Bakery — home of the legendary, massive bread pudding. Naturally, that’s what they ordered. And it did not disappoint. Jeanmarie knew from that very first date how kind and special Sean was. But what truly sealed the deal? Finding out later that he “wasn’t really a dessert guy.” You would have never known by the way he devoured that bread pudding. And the rest, as they say, is history.
