We are thrilled to share the story of our engagement! Our journey began as quiet neighbors—familiar faces who exchanged occasional glances and brief interactions, like the time I tripped in front of Jasiah’s doorway or when he kindly offered help with groceries. We rode the same school bus, walked past each other at school, and even tried talking once—though Jasiah thought I was a bit intimidating at the time. In 2022, with Prom approaching and no date in sight, I wasn’t planning to attend. But after encouragement from my family—and a timely conversation between our moms about how Jasiah had never gone to Prom—I decided to be brave. That evening, with my grandma and great-grandma cheering me on, I came up with a plan. I faked a flat tire on my bike to ask Jasiah for help. It took four tries, but eventually I found the courage to ask him to Prom. He said yes. Three years later, we built a life together in Albuquerque, where we share a home with our two Great Danes, Mochi and Boba, and our cat, Spoons. In December 2024, we dreamed of visiting New York, but it seemed out of reach—until a promotion offered $25 flights anywhere in the U.S. We made a deal: if we both got tickets, we’d go. We did—and while I planned our sightseeing, Jasiah was secretly asking my family for their blessing. In New York, we explored Central Park, grabbed pizza, and even played chess with a stranger—one of my longtime dreams. When we reached the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Jasiah proposed. Caught by surprise, I asked, “Did you ask my family first?” A stranger nearby shouted, “Did she even say yes?” We laughed—and then I said yes. We returned home the next day, filled with joy and excitement for what lies ahead. We’re so grateful for the journey that brought us here and can’t wait to begin this next chapter together.
