We were on our way to Carpinteria for a "birthday dinner", when Gary pulled off the freeway and handed me a blindfold to wear for the remainder of the drive. He parked, got out of the car, and came around to open my door, where he took off my heels and walked me out of the car, still blindfolded, to the sand and told me to take off my blindfold to reveal the best words I could've dreamed of, “MARRY ME?” in the sand with beautifully lit candles. My heart beat like it never had before, I turned around to see him behind me on one knee, and immediately cried the word, "YES!" After, we went to the place we were originally supposed to have dinner and walked into the back where Gary reserved “a table for us”, until realizing after walking in the room, another surprise well planned, that he arranged for both of our families to be there and celebrate the memorable occasion with us.
