It all started in a laundry mat. He had walked by me as I sat on the edge of one of the folding tables, he wore blue jeans, a gray t-shirt, and a black cap (I remember it. I know, go me!), and he offered me the warmest smile. Boy, was I in trouble! I didn't know it at the time, but I would never forget that smile! I didn't know that one day I would compare that smile and that warmth to every person I met. A perfect smile that reached his eyes, so unlike most when you first met them. Dylan was genuinely a nice person, and he has a gravitational pull that people can't help but be drawn into. That is what first drew me to him, even though I was slow to catch on. ;) Well, we continue to bump into each other at parties, but being in two different places in our own lives we didn't pursue anything. A year passes and we were at a mutual friends barn party when a friend of my own comes up to me and says. "Hey, that guy over there wants to talk to you." My eyes followed his direction and I found a group of five or six guys talking. My natural reaction? "Time to go!" I bolt out of nerves and somehow Dylan gets talked into messaging me despite my running off. (To be fair I didn't know they meant him!) We go on our first date and it's amazing, despite him accidentally falling asleep! (He had just got off Hitch. Literally.) Weeks go by, and I know this sounds corny, so bare with me, but I remember this memory so brightly. One afternoon we are riding in his truck (that ridiculously tall one I had to use three step ladders to get into), and I say, "I won't fall in love with you." (I thought I was cool.) His smile is quick, (you know that one we established takes my breath away?) and he replies - "Good luck with that." WELL, guess who was wrong? ME, because I do love this man and this beautiful family we've created! Our story isn't anything fancy, or overly exciting, but it is ours and I love it, and enjoyed sharing a glimpse into it with you all!
