How We Met It all started on November 18th, when Abby and Kory crossed paths at the Riden's Wedding. Abby became friends with Hailey Riden while teaching together in third grade. Kory was in a friend group with Josh and Hailey Riden. What started as two strangers attending a mutual friend's wedding, soon turned into something special. Abby attended the wedding with the third grade teachers and they were on the hunt to find a partner for her. They were looking at all the possible candidates but ultimately left the choice to Abby. They kept an eye on Kory to make sure he was not attending the wedding with someone so Abby could make her move. The DJ called out time for all the single girls to the dance floor. Abby was reluctant to go on the dance floor so she was just far enough to participate, without being in the center. Next it was the single guys turn. Similarly, Kory was reluctant to go out but was forced by his guy friends. Abby and the third grade teachers watched Kory to see if he was going out on the dance floor. Now the dancing began, Abby was too shy to go over and talk to Kory but she saw her opportunity when Kory was out dancing on the floor in a group with Hailey. She thought " I can dance with Hailey and he will be there too." Once Kory and Abby locked eyes and started dancing, the group backed away and Kory and Abby spent the rest of the time dancing the night away. At the end of the night, Kory asked for Abby's number. His first message was " Hi this is Kory, the weirdo from the wedding." They started texting and talking everyday until Kory asked Abby to go on a First Date. Little did we know that this conversation would lead to a love story we would cherish for a lifetime. The First Date Kory and Abby's first date was at Chophouse 101, and they both remember feeling a little nervous, but it didn’t take long for the conversation to flow naturally. While they felt nervous, they also felt comfortable because while it was their first date, their first real date will always be at the Riden's Wedding. Kory and Abby spent hours talking about everything—from their favorite movies to their childhood memories—and they both left the date knowing that this was just the beginning of something incredible. From vineyards, to movie nights and everything in between. They spent the next year and a half going on lots of dates and making memories that would last us a lifetime. The Proposal Kory will always say he knew from the moment that he laid eyes on Abby that he wanted her as his wife. So, it was only a matter of time when he felt the moment was right to pop the question. He planned the perfect proposal at Veronet Vineyard. He told Abby at the beginning of June that he wanted to go back to Veronet together so they could relax before the new school year started for Abby. Little did she know this would be no ordinary date. On the day of the proposal, We were having a double date with Abby's sister, Allison and her fiance, Carson. Kory was nervous because he wanted everything to be perfect. Abby didn't think anything would happen that day because we always talked about a private proposal and a vineyard doesn't match that description. The date started with the four of them relaxing and enjoyed the beautiful hot summer day. Abby had brought a deck of cards to play, which delayed the proposal unintentionally. After playing a card game, they decided to take a walk around the vineyard. Allison and Carson "went to the car" to "get her sunglasses" but in reality went to go hide so they could be the photographers. Abby and Kory went for a walk. We went to a spot where you could see the whole property and were getting to take a self- timed picture, like we had done last time we went to the vineyard. As we posed for the picture, Kory knelt on one knee and asked Abby to marry him. Without a doubt she said YES and the rest is history. They couldn’t be more excited to start the next chapter of their journey together.
