In January 2020, we happened to attend a dinner party put on by the bishop of one of the singles ward. At the time we were not in the same ward, so we had yet to meet each other. At the dinner we were introduced to each other by one of Dakota’s friends, and we quickly hit it off. We talked and played games all night. As the dinner was wrapping up, Dakotas wingman (shoutout to Peter) shouted from across the room to Dakota asking him “did you get her number yet!?” causing a lot of laughter and the exchange of number. We texted back and forth and we went on a date that next weekend. A great first date lead to several more and though we initially were not looking for relationships, both very quickly realized we didn’t want to share the other with anyone else. Our very new relationship turned long distant when COVID sent Dakota away to Utah when the Air Force Academy sent most of their cadets home for the remainder of the school year. We faced challenges and endured trials those five months we were separated, and it was all worth it when we were united again. We continued to date for a little over a year before Dakota proposed May 28, 2021 and we look forward to celebrating our marriage a year later in May 2022!
