We're Getting Married!

How They Met Jordan and Alyssa's love story began in Pullman, Washington while they were both studying at Washington State University — and, as many great modern love stories do, it started online. Their IRL relationship kicked off when Jordan invited Alyssa out for breakfast at Old European, followed by a matinee movie. They hit it off right away and spent the next several weeks growing closer over ice cream dates and movie marathons. Jordan had two lift tickets to Schweitzer Ski Resort (kindly gifted to him by Brooks Westrick) and invited Alyssa on a ski date — a bold move, considering it was a nearly 6-hour drive roundtrip and Alyssa was a beginner snowboarder. Despite the odds, it just worked. On April 8, 2019, at the top of the mountain, they made their relationship official. Since then, they have shared a lot of life together — three cities, five homes, four cats, and countless road trips, powder days, sunrises, and Pizza Fridays. Through all of the changes, one thing stayed constant: they just made sense together. The Proposal Fast forward to 2024 — Jordan and Alyssa were on yet another ski adventure, a regular occurrence since 2019. They were camping at Crystal Mountain and decided to warm up with a few drinks at the Snorting Elk Cellar Bar. Inside, they stumbled upon another duo playing cribbage (hi Trevor and Claire!) and became fast friends. After swapping contact info, they made plans to meet up again for future ski trips. A few short weeks later, their new pals invited them on a three-mile snowshoe hike up to a backcountry cabin called High Hut. Once Jordan looked into the trip, he knew — this was the place. The race was on: pick out the perfect ring, gather the right gear, smuggle it all into a backpack, and somehow keep Alyssa from catching on. (Jordan picked up the ring with 30 minutes to spare before they hit the road.) After a grueling hike, a night of card games, stargazing, and maybe a little too much peanut butter whiskey, the High Hut adventure was nearly complete — but not quite. On a stunning March morning, with Mt. Rainier towering in the distance and the first light of sunrise spilling over the peaks, Jordan got down on one knee outside the cabin and asked Alyssa to marry him. (Spoiler alert: she said yes.) From the beginning, Jordan and Alyssa’s relationship has been shaped by the people around them — the friends who have cheered them on, the family who have supported them, and the ones who have shared ski days, late nights, moves, milestones, and everything in between. Whether you have helped move couches, shared a late night around a campfire, or simply been there through the ebbs and flows, you are part of this story. Every road trip, powder day, housewarming, and late-night phone call has added something to the life they are building together. They are endlessly grateful for how the people in their lives have shaped who they are — because their relationship works not just because of love, shared values, or timing, but because of the community around it. Whether you have known them since childhood, Pullman, or somewhere along the way, your presence in their lives means more than you know. Now they are focused on the future — and that future includes you! And it starts with this celebration.
