Working overnight made their lives easier; for both of them it meant spending more time with their kids. Halloween 2016 was no different. Megan and her son Dean dressed up as Batman and Robin, Dylan's daughter Haylee was a sparkling glitter fairy. Each parent-child team had a blast collecting candy, dressing up, playing games, and taking pictures. Fast forward to Thursday November 3rd. Megan and Dylan were both working and around midnight was their scheduled break time. Dylan had only been working there just shy of a week. He saw Megan sitting by herself, walked over, sat down, and asked about her Halloween. They showed each other pictures of their kids all dressed up and suddenly, unaware to either of them, their journey began.
Megan's 26th birthday, a mere 5 months after they met, Dylan was the victim of a motorcycle accident. He was only in the hospital for a few hours, but unable to work for a few days. On Megan's next night off, Dylan took her out with his fashionable leg brace, brusided ribs, and all. A night at the casino, late night Denny's breakfast, and a movie at Megan's. After the movie, Dylan asked Megan an innocent question... "What's it gonna take for you to move out of this hotel room?" he asked, a smile still lingering on his face. "Either a promotion or a roommate." Megan responded without hesitation. She had just been passed over for a promotion and denied a loan for the mobile home she had her eye on. "Well lets do it. I'll move in with you." Floored, Megan didn't respond but laughed and assumed he was kidding. Two weeks later while on a lunch break at work, Dylan asked if Megan had found any houses. Megan laughed, "Oh, you were serious about that?" "Absolutely."
While looking for furniture for their new house, Megan responded to a Facebook ad. Dylan looked over her shoulder as she typed the message. "Your boyfriend, huh?" he chuckled after reading what she had written. "I figure its an easier explanation than whatever is going on here. What am I supposed to say? This guy I'm moving in with that I'm romantically involved-" "I've given up on not being your boyfriend," Dylan laughed, leaning back on the couch. "We're officially a thing; there's no way around it."
On a perfect Spring day, Megan and Dylan took Haylee and Dean outside for bike rides and sidewalk chalk and a picnic. As they sat in lawn chairs on their driveway watching the kids race up and down their street, Dylan turned to Megan and smiled. "Let's get married." Megan looked at Dylan from behind her sunglasses. "What?" "I was trying to plan a whole thing, but this day is too perfect. I'm going to marry you." They had discussed marriage before and mutually agreed that there wasn't a desperate need for it. They were happy together, their kids were happy, there wasn't any need to change things. Although confused, Megan laughed and asked why. Dylan looked back out at the kids laughing and running, the sun shining brightly, their house behind them. He smiled widely. "Because... This." "Hard to argue with that."
