Important Info

Some important tips & reminders we have compiled for traveling to Ireland. Please feel free to contact us with any specific questions not addressed on this site.

Passports

Please make sure your passports are all up-to-date and valid for use through May 2026 (6 months after the trip). For new passport applications or passport renewals, please see here:

Visa

With a US passport, you do not need a visa to travel to the Republic of Ireland (where the venue is located). However, if you plan on traveling in the surrounding areas before or after the wedding, please remember that Northern Ireland and the UK are separate from the Republic of Ireland, and have their own visa requirements. The UK now is requiring an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme – an ETA is a digital permission to travel to the UK, including Northern Ireland, and also to travel to Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland. This ETA removes the need for a UK visa, but still requires an application (including from US citizens!). For more information, see below:

Voltage & Socket Types

You will need a power plug travel adapter for sockets AND potentially a voltage converter in Ireland. Ireland uses the Type G socket, which is different than the sockets in the U.S. The standard voltage in Ireland (230 V) is also much higher than the voltage level your devices typically operate at in the United States (120 V). Without a converter, you risk serious damage to your devices. For most iPhones and laptops, you only need a plug adapter to charge them, but any high-voltage devices such as hair dryers and curling irons might be dangerous. Please check your devices and make sure they are international travel-safe.

The Legal Stuff

Please bear in mind that as this event is taking place in a foreign country, we must adhere to and be respectful of their local laws. Certain items that may be legal in the U.S. are not allowed in Ireland, including but not limited to — marijuana (including edibles and CBD), vaping of any type, smoking indoors, etc. Additionally, our venue does not allow any outside food or drink to be consumed while staying at the castle, and any violators will be fined.
