It was random chance in 2009, that our parents had sent us to the same summer co-ed camp in Hudson, Fl. Being that I was only 15 at the time, my best friend and I were boy crazy, and we immediately found a group of cute guys to befriend on day one. And so Nelson and I met, and we quickly became good friends during that week at camp but both liked other people. The following year we intentionally attended camp at the same time again, but we were still only friends at that point. On the last night of our second year, there was an "end of camp" block party. I was down in the dumps over something that had happened that day and didn't feel like participating. Nelson saw me standing by myself so he came over and talked with me for awhile instead of enjoying the party with everyone else. After talking for quite awhile, Nelson went back to his cabin and came back with a piece of pizza (that his camp counselor broke the rules and ordered for their cabin) to cheer me up. At only 16, that conversation with him and a piece of pizza was apparently all that was needed to finally spark the relationship. Four months later in September of 2010, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend at one of our favorite places, Lake Pickett. And the rest is history...
We were planning a trip to Oahu, Hawaii for my birthday in March. Being that Hawaii is such a beautiful place, I was wanting to get some professional pictures taken so we could put them around our house. Knowing he wouldn't be into a photoshoot during our nice relaxing Hawaiian vacation, I offered to pay the cost for the photographer myself. He reluctantly agreed. Prior to the trip I was going and back and forth with the photographer, planning the location, what to wear, and such. Little did I know that he was planning the proposal with her at the same time. When it came time for the shoot, she was asking us to do all these odd poses and movements and various things that would make us laugh. She suggested he come up behind me and "tickle the crap out of me" as she said. As I stood there with my back turned I kept twitching waiting for the "bad" tickle, he was taking forever to do it! That's when he pulled on my arm to turn me around, and he was down on his knee asking. It was the single best moment of both our lives.
