How We Met

November 2017

Kevin and Danielle met through an app on the interwebs (Thanks, Michelle and Kara!) called Coffee Meets Bagel. Kevin was Danielle's first match (Kevin likes to tease Danielle about this). After a few days of chatting, Kevin asked Danielle out for a drink...which then somehow turned into dinner. They were both nervous (he made nerd jokes and she couldn't eat her food) but somehow all stars aligned and something clicked for them. He was drawn to her delightful quirkiness and she really liked his beard (obviously). It was a wonderful first date.... They've been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal

September 2018

Danielle had been hinting that she had wanted a Harry Potter Lego set that included a flying Ford Anglia car (the car is special because they saw one on their trip to Edinburgh, Scotland last May). Kevin had shared with Danielle that he had bought her a present and that it would be coming later in the week. One particular Thursday after work, Danielle got home and Kevin excitedly exclaimed that her present had come! Danielle was a little hopeful that it might be a ring, but she'd never tell him that. And... it wasn't a ring. It was the Lego set. Kevin opened the box and packages and got the Lego book ready so they could start their assembling. Only, Kevin was acting a little off and kept rearranging the pieces to, apparently, hide a ring. Danielle, however, was concentrating super hard on finding the correct pieces to assemble, and missed the ring entirely. Kevin started laughing and Danielle asked a polite, "What?!" And then she saw it! THE ring! She saw that Kevin had written in the instruction book, "Danielle, will you marry me?" Danielle then smacked Kevin in the arm exclaiming, "WHAT IS THAT?!" And then kissed him a whole bunch while she cried (she's a crier). Kevin then said that he needed to hear a verbal "YES" and she very much obliged him. She would very much oblige him for the rest of their lives. It was the most perfect nerd proposal.
